Pond Design and Construction Workshop
Join us in beautiful Vernonia Springs, Oregon USA, August 9th-11th to start a small pond / infiltration basin. This entry level workshop is open to the public, there are no prerequisites.
Taught by Zach Weiss of Water Stories and Elemental Ecosystems, and sponsored by Terra Vida Academy, we will cover the essential details for building a pond; from site assessment, to pond design, all the way through project preparation and execution. Spend the weekend with us at the the incredible Vernonia Springs Event Venue with Zach Weiss and our workshop team to watch a small pond project unfold in real time. Learn tips, tricks, and best practices for installing water retention earthwork features on a small scale! Three meals will be provided on Saturday, and breakfast and lunch will be served on Sunday. Accommodations and camping are available on site.

Discover Water Cycle Restoration: An Immersive Walking Tour at Tabula Rasa Farms and Whispering Oaks
On Sunday, August 4th from 9am-2pm, join us on a walking tour to experience the magical transformation that has built water resilience across neighboring properties, Tabula Rasa Farms & Whispering Oaks, over the past several years! From pig wallows, to planting terraces, to swimming ponds, this tour will take you on a journey across property boundaries, showcasing the interconnectedness of farm, woodlands, and water management. As we walk across the farm, we will discuss the issues that these neighbors face, and the strategies and earthworks that were implemented to overcome these issues.
Zach Weiss of Elemental Ecosystems and Water Stories, along with Brenda Smola-Foti of Tabula Rasa Farms and Lynda Mueller of Whispering Oaks, will guide you through groundbreaking work in Water Cycle Restoration. Come learn how these practices have mitigated flooding, improved grazing, nurtured biodiversity, and transformed the landscape for the betterment of the humans and animals who call it home.
After walking across the Tabula Rasa Farms to the final pond site, located on Whispering Oaks, participants will be served an incredible farm to table lunch, courtesy of Humble Spirit.

This holistic tour, sponsored by Permaculture Land Users Group of Oregon (PLUG) and the Ground, offers an in-depth exploration of water cycle restoration and how this relates to regenerative agriculture.
PLUG seeks to provide education and outreach to property/homeowners, small-scale farmers, governing agencies, and conservationists, for the benefit of watershed health, wildfire mitigation, and resiliency.
