Join us for an immersive chainsaw workshop led by Aaron Stump of Stump Regeneration, CSAW Level 2 trained sustainable forestry professional. Learn the essentials of chain saw maintenance, sharpening, felling, and bucking from an expert. Discover the secrets behind essential cuts like the face cut, back cut, plunge cut, Humboldt, modified hinge, and the Dutchman.
Worried about safety? Don't be! We'll show you how to avoid pinches, assess tree direction, and handle potential hazards like power lines and infestations.

What you will need
Every student will be required to fell at least one tree during the course. There will be a maximum of 10 students for the class and will be very hands on. Please be prepared with:
Bring your own food, meals not provided on site
Helmet with face shield
Hearing protection
Safety glasses
Gloves
Chaps
Sturdy Boots (leather preferred)
Bring your own chainsaw (optional), however there will be one on site for you to use for class participation.
There will be a 2 hour video course prerequisite for all attendees that teaches about chainsaw mechanics, tree biology, and forestry safety. The link will be sent to you once you pay for the course, and a completed pre-course skill assessment test is required prior to arrival.

The workshop takes place at Belle Mare Farm, known for its diverse crop rotation practices and commitment to sustainability. With nine fields ranging from 3.3 to 12 acres, the farm incorporates heritage grains, cover crops, vegetables, and pasture for livestock rotation. Additionally, Bella Mare Farm is embracing biodynamic practices and has initiated the first phase of a new permaculture orchard. Don't miss this opportunity to be part of a thriving agricultural community at Bella Mare Farm.
